Mr. Budge’s article entitled “Suing the Police for Excessive Force? Beware these Pitfalls,” addresses excessive force cases brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for violations of constitutional rights. The Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) is the oldest and largest civil justice advocacy organization in the Pacific Northwest, working with Washington’s top law firms, attorneys, legal professionals and consumer groups to protect the legal rights of wronged consumers, injured citizens, patients, and workers. Edwin Budge graduated from the University of Oregon in 1991, summa cum laude. He graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University College of Law in 1994, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Willamette Law Review. Mr. Budge has litigated multiple cases in state and federal courts around the country. He has won many favorable jury verdicts on behalf of plaintiffs in civil rights cases, including verdicts and settlements totaling more than $45 million. Mr. Budge has also been selected as a Washington ‘Super Lawyer’ in the area of civil rights litigation–an honor reserved for top lawyers in the state.
